Foster & Freeman expand into fingerprint detection with new subsidiary company

After thirty years of independence Mason Vactron Ltd., a specialist manufacturer of latent fingerprint detection equipment, has joined Foster & Freeman Ltd, the leading Forensic Science instrument manufacturers. Mason Vactron's directors decided that the best way to move ahead, protect the company's customer base and complete important new products that were in development, was by teaming up with Foster & Freeman to take advantage of the larger company's greater resources.

Mason Vactron are working on two significant new products, a compact, scene of crime version of its successful 'Quaser' forensic light source and a much larger cyanoacrylate fuming cabinet for the treatment of latent fingerprints. However, both projects were rapidly exhausting the company's resources and the bold solution to hand over to Foster & Freeman was the only one considered sensible. "It not only guaranteed the successful completion of these products, it ensured continuity of support for our loyal and expanding customer base, which now extends throughout Europe," said Eddy Cohen, retiring Managing Director of Mason Vactron.

Rationalisation has meant that Mason Vactron has vacated its original premises in London and relocated to Foster & Freeman's headquarters in Evesham, Worcestershire, where it will be easier for the company to tap into Foster & Freeman's research facilities

Bob Freeman, new Joint Managing Director of Mason Vactron commented, "Foster & Freeman will provide considerable resources to ensure that Mason Vactron's new products are completed successfully. Foster & Freeman currently export to over 120 countries and have a very experienced management team who will be assisting Mason Vactron. This is an exciting new phase for both companies and I believe both have a lot to gain from the association. With new products and new sales and marketing initiatives, we expect to double Mason Vactron's turnover in year 2000 and bring it back into profit.

Foster & Freeman Ltd, located at Evesham, Worcestershire in the UK, was established in 1978 and are known world wide for their unique range of forensic science equipment which include instruments for examining questioned documents and physical evidence such as glass and fibres.
