Quick Check is designed to standardise the repetitive examination of large numbers of similar documents e.g. cheques suspected of alteration

‘Quick Check’ - the answer to repetitive document examination

‘Quick Check’ is a new feature of the VSC 5000* that enables the operator to make a sequence of document examinations under a variety of pre-programmed instrument settings. The facility is designed to standardise the repetitive examination of large numbers of similar documents, cheques suspected of alteration, for example.

Once programmed under Quick Check, the VSC 5000 automatically adopts the illumination, lamp filter, imaging filter and lens magnification appropriate to each examination task, reducing operator input and eliminating errors.

Each stage of the examination sequence can be initiated either manually or automatically. Under automatic operation, each instrument setting is maintained for a predetermined period of time to allow the operator to make observations and complete a short report before moving on to the next stage. Reports are filed for future appraisal by a supervisor or expert examiner.

The technique can save time, ensure consistency in procedure and is particularly suitable for use by technician operatives.

*The VSC 5000 is Foster& Freeman’s comprehensive workstation for the examination of questioned documents.
