Crime-lite® forensic light source wins
contract in USA
Crime-lite®, Mason Vactron’s new portable,
scene of crime, forensic light source has been selected by
the State of New Jersey Police Department, USA, in a recent
open tender. Crime-lites, which incorporate high intensity
LED arrays, were selected after comparison with other well-known
models that use either tungsten halogen or xenon arc lamps.
Battery powered Crime-lites, weighing less than
500g, offer true portability and ease of use at the crime
scene. Their intense radiant output is generated by new technology
LEDs that provide narrow band emissions in the violet, blue,
blue/green and green, designed to detect evidence such as
fibres, body fluids and drugs as well as stained latent fingerprints.
A white light model is also available for general search.
Lasting, typically, 50,000 hours LED lamps rarely need to
be replaced and provide a significant saving in equipment
maintenance costs.
