ForamTM - a new range
of Raman spectrometers with integral video
microscopes
Foster & Freeman's Foram spectrometer is now available in
three different laser wavelengths - 532, 685 and 785nm.
Raman spectroscopy offers the forensic scientist a fast,
non-destructive and reliable method of evaluating a wide
range of materials including drugs and explosives.
A Raman spectrum contains numerous peaks that
correspond to the molecular structure of a material and
chemically different materials are likely to show variations in
their spectra. Raman spectroscopy, therefore, provides a
fast and simple way of identifying unknown substances.
Each spectrometer features an integral video microscope,
providing an on-screen magnification of up to x600 on a 17" display screen, and a precision XY translation stage that
allows accurate sample alignment. Features that enable
spectra to be produced from samples as small as 5 microns.
The Foram is supplied with a comprehensive software
package that features multiple spectral displays, spectral
comparisons using peak-to-peak correlation and data
archiving with search and match facilities.
