Richard Evans receives the ADS Innovation Award on behalf of Foster+Freeman

Researchers at foster+freeman are celebrating being presented with the ‘Highly Commended’ ADS Security Innovation Award at this years’ Security & Policing Home Office event.

The Award, which celebrates innovation across the UK’s security industry, was presented by UK Minister for State Security, Ben Wallace MP, in recognition of the company’s development of a landmark fingerprint visualisation technique: fpNatural IR Fluorescent Fingerprint Powder.

Developed to eradicate the difficult substrates examiners are faced with when treating fingerprints, fpNatural IR Fluorescent Fingerprint Powders fluoresce in the Infrared part of the spectrum, removing background interference to reveal high contrast fingerprints.

The properties of the powders mean that nearly all conceivable background interference and complexities are completely removed, allowing fingermarks to be imaged with ease by forensic experts. The product has been a global success, selling to customers in the USA, China, Australasia and Europe, as well as the UK.

Other companies recognised during the Awards include overall winner SeeQuestor, for its revolutionary solution to reviewing CCTV footage, runner-up QinetiQ for its SPO-NX stand-off threat detection system, and highly commended Evidence Talks Ltd for its digital forensic processing tool SPEKTOR Cascade Forensics.
