TECHNOLOGY FOR QUESTIONED DOCUMENT EXAMINATION

Multi-spectral Imaging

Analysing a document across different spectral ranges from UV through the visible spectrum to IR can reveal details that are invisible in white light and excite security features that respond at specific wavebands.

A multi-spectral imaging is a technique that is often used to enhance or restore historic documents. By capturing image data at a range of wavelength frequencies across the electromagnetic spectrum it is possible to reveal hidden information and to increase image contrast.

These techniques can also be applied to the examination of questioned documents and can reveal evidence of tampering, alterations and counterfeiting.
