Modern banknotes feature an ever expanding range of time-tested and innovative new security features as manufacturers aim to stay one step ahead of counterfeiters.

While many of a banknotes features can be checked without the use of a dedicated QDE system (watermarks, intricate printing, paper quality etc.) there are a far greater number of features that can only be checked using technologies such as UV illumination, anti-Stokes visualisation and high magnification.
